Complete guide: Healthy Weight Range
Updated:
There is no perfect ideal-weight number for everyone. This tool shows only the range associated with adult BMI from 18.5 to less than 25: boundary = BMI × height in meters².
The upper boundary is excluded because BMI 25 starts another category; displayed rounding can hide small differences. Pounds and kilograms represent the same physical range. The midpoint is not selected as a target and weight loss is not promised.
Use it as context, not prescription. Muscular athletes, older adults and people with illness need individual interpretation. It does not calculate a target weight for children or pregnancy or replace body-composition assessment.
How it works
- 1Enter height and its unit.
- 2Multiply height in meters² by 18.5 and by 25.
- 3Interpret the range in context, not as a mandatory target.
Frequently asked questions
Can children or pregnant people use it?
No. This general adult estimate does not replace pediatric, prenatal or nutritional assessment or an individualized clinical plan.
Why no single weight?
BMI does not determine ideal individual body composition; one number would imply false precision.
Are values preserved when sharing?
