Complete guide: Length
Updated:
Length uses the meter as reference. An international inch is exactly 0.0254 meters, a foot 0.3048 meters and a yard 0.9144 meters. Multiply by the source factor and divide by the target factor.
A statute mile is 1,609.344 meters and a nautical mile 1,852 meters. They are different units: do not interchange road distances and navigation. The international foot is used, not the former US survey foot.
Equivalences use internal precision and display up to ten significant digits. Very small quantities use scientific notation so they do not appear to be zero. Changing units does not change the object or replace a real measurement.
