Complete guide: Exact Age
Updated:
Exact age compares a birth date with an explicit reference date. It counts full years, then full months from the last anniversary and finally remaining days. Days are not divided by 365 or months by 30: each month retains its actual length.
When an anniversary falls on a missing day, we use the last day of that month. February 29 becomes February 28 in common years and a month from January 31 ends on the last day of February. This is a tool convention, not a universal legal-age rule.
The next birthday can be today, in which case zero days remain. Initial dates are editable examples between 1900 and 2100. The reference date stays in shared results; timezones do not change the dates and birth time is not used.
How it works
- 1Compare birth with the reference date.
- 2Count full years and months and the remaining days.
- 3Check the next birthday and remaining days.
Frequently asked questions
How is February 29 counted?
February 28 is used in common years. For legal purposes check your jurisdiction's rule.
Does a shared link preserve my dates?
Yes. It keeps entered dates, times and options, including the reference date; they are not replaced with the day a recipient opens the link. Sharing a birth date reveals that information to the recipient.
