Complete guide: Discounts
Updated:
A discount reduces the original price by a percentage. A product priced at 100 with a 20% discount saves 20 and costs 80. The effective percentage helps compare differently advertised promotions.
Successive discounts are not added: each applies to the remaining price. A 20% discount followed by 10% on 100 leaves 72, saving 28%, not 30%. You can apply three consecutive discounts; leave unused ones at zero.
The fixed coupon is deducted after percentage discounts and cannot reduce the product below zero. Shipping is added last and is excluded from product savings. Use an original price including taxes to compare checkout totals.
How it works
- 1Discounted price = price × (1 − d₁/100) × (1 − d₂/100) × (1 − d₃/100).
- 2We subtract the fixed coupon and add shipping to the final price.
Frequently asked questions
Does 20% plus 10% equal 30%?
No. Applied successively, they equal a 28% discount: 100 becomes 80 and then 72.
Is shipping discounted?
Not here: shipping is added after discounts and the coupon.
When is the coupon applied?
After all percentage discounts. Check that your store uses the same order.
