Complete guide: Days Between Dates
Updated:
The elapsed difference between January 1 and January 2 is one day. Including both endpoints produces two dates. Equal dates have zero elapsed days or one included date. The main result shows absolute magnitude; the breakdown retains the sign to indicate an earlier end date.
Adding calendar days includes Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Use a negative number to subtract. Leap years and actual month lengths follow the Gregorian calendar rather than 30-day months. Adding two days to February 28, 2024 yields March 1.
Dates between 1900 and 2100 are supported, including the computed date. These are calendar dates without times: daylight-saving changes do not add or remove days. For court, bank or employment deadlines check whether the rule uses calendar or business days and how endpoints are treated.
How it works
- 1Choose difference or adding/subtracting days.
- 2Enter dates or a whole-day offset.
- 3Distinguish elapsed days from included dates.
Frequently asked questions
Are weekends included?
Yes. These are calendar days. Use the business-day calculator to exclude nonworking days.
Does a shared link preserve my dates?
Yes. It keeps entered dates, times and options, including the reference date; they are not replaced with the day a recipient opens the link. Sharing a birth date reveals that information to the recipient.
